I think it was yesterday. Was it yesterday? When did the iPad go on pre-order? OH YA! YESTERDAY!
Well, that wasn’t even the biggest news from yesterday. The biggest news was how AT&T and Apple are going to work this whole 3G plan and as JK from JKontheRun suggests… its magical and revolutionary. I am going to find a unicorn in this gadget. I know it. ::clap clap clap::
Here is the situation. When you get your new iPad 3G edition sometime late April, you’ll be able to activate the 3G service AT-ANY-TIME! By the gods. Did you really just read that? Yes, you did. You can then pay over the air, $14.99 or $29.99 for a month and monitor your bandwidth in near real-time. So, if you are out and about and haven’t activated your device but only really need it for the two weeks you are away on business, you can turn on your iPad and activate the 3G for the month. If you pay only $15, you get 250 MB’s of transfer, which will get eaten up fast, but you can watch it happen. And when it does happen, you can opt-in for the upgrade to unlimited for $30. Actually, I think it is an additional $15, not a whole new blob of $30.
That is pretty cool. You don’t have to walk up to an AT&T store to activate and use your iPad over 3G.
